You cannot
measure up.
She is
educated.
You are not.
She went to
the university.
You did not.
She dresses
nicely.
You don’t.
He wondered
why his friend kept telling him these things about his girlfriend. His friend was
his partner they both had a mechanic shop that was doing very well. They were
both good at what they do and had a lot of repeat customers.
If he could
remember he had loved this woman. They were both neighbors and attended the
same elementary school. She also showed a lot of affection towards him and on
many occasions, they talked about getting married someday. Even while she was
in college they dated. Before her graduation, his friend was encouraging him to
continue with the relationship. Once she graduated and landed a job at a
fortune 500 company, his partner started saying negative things to him.
He was
surprised when his girlfriend told him that he had been telling her that she
need to find someone with a good education as she might not be happy with him
if they get married.
He
confronted his friend about what his girlfriend told him and he blatantly
denied it. They are still partners as they work well together, but their
friendship is now forever ruined. They no longer hang out together after work
or discuss anything of a personal nature.
